Greetings Friends and Family of Pink Martini,

Pink Martini and McMenamins are excited to announce FundFest 2008! -- a four-night fundraising concert event at the Crystal Ballroom on June 3 to 6 to benefit four local non-profits.  Pink Martini and McMenamins will produce the event and donate 100% of the net proceeds to the following beneficiaries which were selected by Pink Martini band members:

  • Friends of Trees
  • KBOO Community Radio
  • Outside In
  • Bicycle Transportation Alliance

Tickets On Sale Saturday April 26 at 12noon
at the Crystal Ballroom Box Office and through Ticketmaster!

The goal of FundFest 2008 is to raise a total of $80,000 or $20,000 each for the four beneficiaries. "Pink Martini is approached every year by dozens of organizations to perform at fundraisers and events, which is difficult because we spend so much of the year on the road," says Pink Martini bandleader Thomas M. Lauderdale. "FundFest -- which is four nights of fun and festive fundraising -- is an opportunity for the band to raise money for four different organizations whose work we want to honor and support." In 2006 the inaugural FundFest raised $84,324 and donated $21,081 each to four local nonprofits.

Here's more information about the beneficiaries of FundFest 2008!:

Friends of Trees
Friends of Trees inspires community stewardship of our urban forest by bringing people in the Portland-Vancouver metro area together to plant and care for city trees and urban natural areas. Since 1989, we have mobilized thousands of volunteers to plant more than 360,000 trees and native plants, increasing Portland's tree canopy during decades when a dozen major U.S. cities lost a quarter of their tree cover. For more information visit http://www.friendsoftrees.org/

KBOO Community Radio
KBOO Community Radio is a volunteer-powered, listener-sponsored, non-commercial community radio station celebrating 40 years of news, public affairs and music programming with an emphasis on community, diversity, creativity and activism. KBOO broadcasts at 90.7FM Portland, 100.7FM Corvallis, 91.9FM Hood River and online at http://www.kboo.fm/

Outside In
Outside In provides comprehensive services to more than 500 youth per year who are experiencing homelessness.  Initially, these youth may have emotional walls they have built around themselves to survive.  They have survived families that abused and neglected them as well as adults who exploited them once they were on the streets.  Outside In focuses on their strengths and builds the confidence that is required for them to be able to leave the streets.  Often, we are the first person that has told them “you can.”  For more information visit http://www.outsidein.org/.

Bicycle Transportation Alliance
The Bicycle Transportation Alliance creates healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safer, easier, and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities. For more information visit http://www.bta4bikes.org/.
