Instructor
Energetic, engaging and self-starting team player to work with homeless youth,
ages 18-24, to identify and achieve their education, career, employment, and
training goals leading to self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities:
Position is in the Employment & Education Resource Center (ERC) and
is responsible for curriculum and instruction of basic skills, career
exploration and work readiness. Develops and improves education and
workforce readiness program in order to prepare youth for employment and/or
post-secondary education. Coordinates with case managers to provide wrap
around services to assist youth to reach their goals. Math and/or SPED
endorsement and current Oregon teaching license preferred.
An instructor in this position conducts assessments with youth to identify
skills, aptitudes and interests, using technology based resources and best
practices. Instruction is provided in small groups and individually. The
successful candidate works with youth and a team of workforce development staff
to build a youth plan that includes achievable education and career goals.
In cooperation with other team members, the instructor recommends youth for
further education and training. Instructor is liaison for special projects,
manages records and reports, maintains progress records, tracks achievements
and advocates for extra supports.
Qualifications:
Training and expertise in instructional strategies for disenfranchised
and/or challenged learners, youth development, assessment and problem
solving is required. Successful candidate will demonstrate initiative,
follow-through, accountability, excellent communication, superior
organizational skills and self-management as high-functioning team member.
Must be able to enter and retrieve data from a variety of electronic
recordkeeping systems. Experience in workforce development including career
exploration valued. Diversity highly valued.
